Note that IE9 also supports SVG that can be used as css background-image, eliminating the need of creating a canvas with a specified height (for instance this solution is applied in the gradient editor by ColorZilla – http://www.colorzilla.com/gradient-editor/ ).

I don’t know however if this technique would be more efficient that the current one (because of we must convert the svg-xml to base64, what can be potentially slow, event though it must be done only once)…

We pushed our work all the time to the public repository where everyone can see it. So it was not a secret what were working on. But until now, we haven’t been at a point where we could involve the community for feedback.
Thanks for the offer of your help. You can help by testing your apps and report whats wrong / different compared to the master. Just write a mail on the list or use bugzilla for reporting.
We don’t have any more announcements to make right now. But as always, we work on a public repository. If you want to know earlier what were working on, you can check the repository and commit messages.

try opening the modal dialog on http://demo.qooxdoo.org/diet/widgetbrowser/index.html and then closing it again … on the latest chrome beta at least this does not work.
