We are proud to announce the availability of two new qooxdoo releases.
The first half of this "release double feature" is qooxdoo 0.6.6, which is supposed to be the most mature of all versions so far. It is recommended for production use and all applications should be migrated to this release. As usual convenient scripts allow for (semi-)automatic migration of custom applications from the previous release 0.6.5. This time they are hardly needed, because there is only one major API change in order to avoid a potential name clash with a future of 0.7.
As an early preview of 0.7 a second release is made available today: qooxdoo 0.7-alpha1 is a first alpha release meant for demonstrating and testing the new OO features. It is meant for gathering user feedback, not for production use. More information on this early test release can be found in a separate news entry for 0.7-alpha1.
qooxdoo 0.6.6 does include a lot of bugfixes and improvements. Particularly, some IE7 issues have been fixed and the disposer code, which ensures qooxdoo applications to be memory-leak free, has been made more complete.
There may be only a few - but nonetheless quite exciting - feature additions in this maintenance release. For instance, a "Quickstart" application (Download) has been added that runs out-of-the-box without the need to install any software. It is intended for users new to qooxdoo as one of the easiest ways to evaluate the framework and to play around with a simple application. For a complete list of changes please take a look at the release notes.
Have Fun!
