This Monday I do a lecture about qooxdoo at the university of Szeged. The lecture was part of a course about the Eclipse Rich Ajax Platform (RAP) organized by the CAS Software AG in cooperation with EclipseSource. I was invited to to a lecture about qooxdoo because RAP uses qooxdoo to render the user interface in the browser. A good knowledge of qooxdoo is e.g. required to build custom RAP widgets.

This lecture was a bit different than my other qoodoo talks because I couldn't assume any knowledge in web technologies. On the other hand I knew that they all know Java and should have a basic understanding of SWT, which was covered in a previous lecture. I could leverage this knowledge by comparing qooxdoo's OOP features to Java's and qooxdoo's layout and widget system to SWT. The goal of this lecture was to get a basic understanding of qooxdoo by writing a small temperature converter application.
You can download the example application build in the exercises. The application has been split into separate applications for each exercise.
I think it was a really successful trip. Szedeg is a nice medium sized Hungarian city near the border to Romania and Serbia with very friendly and open people. I hope they help spreading the word about qooxdoo.
