Time for another weekly status update. As there is a national holiday here next Monday, the qooxdoo core team at 1&1 will enjoy a long weekend and will be back on Tuesday.
Meet the Team
Have you checked out the qooxdoo talks and workshops at the upcoming conferences? It's a great opportunity to meet most of the core developers. To get an idea of what to expect, see our team photo or the photo stream from yesterday's "1&1 Nerd Night" event.
qooxdoo 0.8
Right before the conferences and - you guessed it - yet another holiday on May 22, we would like to release an early alpha of qooxdoo 0.8. Being an alpha release it is, of course, still not complete or polished, but nonetheless should serve as a good development snapshot to try out some of the cool new features. qooxdoo 0.8-alpha1 is planned for May 20. A list of the tasks we plan to finish can be found in Bugzilla.
Eclipse RAP
A new intermediate release RAP 1.1 M4 of the Eclipse Rich Ajax Platform (RAP) is available as the next step towards the upcoming 1.1 final. This milestone can act as a target platform based on 3.4 while the tooling is still able to run on Eclipse 3.3. More details.
Unit testing
Runner classes formerly local to the Testrunner application have been brought to the framework class tree, and the qx.dev.unit name space has been restructured in the course of this. The aim is to have the runner infrastructure available more generally, e.g. to facilitate an easier integration of unit tests with Selenium. There is an experimental class added to the Simulator contrib to that end.
generator2
The JSON config files for the new generator are now reaching a level where most boilerplate settings and jobs can be imported from a generic application.json that is supposed to support most of the standard application needs (e.g. jobs like 'source', 'build', 'api', etc.). The current config.json of the Feedreader is pretty much what we were looking for in this respect.
