The week in qooxdoo (2010-10-01)

Welcome back to another review of a week in qooxdoo.

New Team Member

Say hello to a new colleague: On the 1st of October Tristan Koch started as a new core team member here at 1&1. We are happy to have you on board and are looking forward to working with you on advancing qooxdoo! :-)

JSConf.eu 2010

It was an awesome event that took place in Berlin last weekend, and made it quite a short working week for most of us. See our short recap of the conference.

Bugfixes

For a complete list of bugs fixed during the last working week, use this bugzilla query.

New Real-life Example: MYUniversity

MYUniversity is the intranet social network for teachers and students at Novosibirsk state university. Thanks to Anton Adamansky for sharing this info with the community. Be sure to check out his description of the project on the page of qooxdoo real-life applications, which also links to more screenshots.

New Real-life Example: JAP

Guilherme Aiolfi, author of the high-quality TokenField contribution, let us know about another real-life example. JAP is another intranet application, therefore doesn’t feature public access. Nevertheless it seems to take advantage of a lot of state-of-the-art qooxdoo features like data binding. It also comes with quite a nice custom theme. Don’t you think that could be contributed just like the DarkTheme? In any case, quite impressive work.

That’s it for today, C U L8R.

  1. I’d be glad to see Jap’s port of JQueryUi Aristo contributed to Qooxdoo.
Theming capabilities are really impressive in Qooxdoo, but we lack some good examples and working recipes.
The recent Dark theme is somewhat old-fashioned, to me, and difficultly usable in a real-word app. I think that a cleaner and lighter approach to app theming is needeed, liberated from old OS UIs and more oriented towards today’s web & app design.
