The week in qooxdoo (2011-01-14)

Welcome back to another great year, continuing with the regular weekly status updates.

Widget Overview

We’ve recently added a demo showing all widgets. The widgets are more or less grouped by namespaces and organized in a tabbed view. States such as “hovered” or “invalid” can be triggered for each widget (when appropriate). We started to use this demo for some visual testing of the widget set. But apart from testing, the demo can be very helpful while creating custom themes. We labeled each widget with the class name, so you should be able to jump to the corresponding code quickly.

For a complete list of recently fixed bugs use this bugzilla query. This time it not only covers the last working week, but the period since the last weekly blog post, i.e. right before Xmas.

UploadWidget Fixes for IE

Tobi Oetiker reported: “Dear UploadWidget users, I have spent some quality time with my dear friend IE8 today and added some positioning updates to the UploadWidget so that the UploadButton works for IE as well.”. He improved input element positioning (to go right up to the border of the button), and fixed input element sizing for IE 8 and below. Thanks Tobi!

Article on Virtual List

There’s a technically detailed and quite genuine article at Webreference about the qooxdoo Virtual List. It is really worth a read! About two years ago there was another article on Webreference by the same author, Rob Gravelle, “Popular JavaScript Framework Libraries: qooxdoo and SproutCore”, which still pretty accurately covers certain qooxdoo features. Nice write-ups, Rob!

Rob Gravelle resides in Ottawa, Canada, is the founder of and has built systems for numerous commercial businesses. Maybe he also offers qooxdoo-related professional services, particulary if you’re located in Canada or the US?

That’s it for today. Have a nice weekend!

  1. Upload widget is great. Many thanks for the effort!
How about releasing the last year’s Gift (Simple Theme) and making it available to us?!

Happy New Year and Bunch of Thanks to Qooxdoo team.

  2. Hey peyman,
the theme did sadly not make any progress since christmas which is why we haven’t put anything online yet. We hope to get it out of the door as soon as it’s ready.
