Here comes the weekly status update.
Some time ago we added a way to use CSS gradients in decorations. Modern browsers can leverage CSS for painting nice gradients – without requiring images. This week we added a fallback for IE 9 and below, which now use their proprietary “filter” feature internally to generate those gradients. As an app developer or theme designer you won’t have to cope with any browser differences.
As a user of qooxdoo’s Modern theme, you won’t realize the enhancement visually, because the Modern theme already had a fallback for IEs. But that used images instead of CSS gradients.
But the Simple theme, which relies on CSS mostly, does show and benefit from the recent improvement. Just open an IE browser and take a look at the Widget Browser, the Simple Theme is pre-selected. All gradients you see are implemented without the need to create images for a proper fallback.

Have a nice weekend!
